Alan Smith Bio
Alan Smith is an experienced graphic designer and entrepreneur with a diverse background in graphic design, marketing communications, web development, brand identity, digital media, and social media. He works with small businesses, companies, consultants, organizations, and startups across the U.S., providing creative solutions for both print and digital communications.
Alan began his design career in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and Santa Clara Valley, working as a graphic artist, desktop publisher, and senior graphic designer for engineering, technology, publishing, and media companies. His clients and employers have included ADC Enhanced Services, California Micro Devices, Micro Linear, Space Systems/Loral, Knight-Ridder Information, KBHK-TV, Landmark Calendars, Westinghouse Marine Division, Academic Systems, and other established organizations.
While working as a graphic artist at InfoPoint Inc., a web development company in Santa Cruz, Alan was encouraged by company president Don Steiny to establish his own design business. He subsequently launched Alan Smith Graphic Designer from his home office in Sunnyvale, California. Since then, he has provided graphic, marketing, and web design services to a wide range of Bay Area and nationwide clients.
His education and professional development include a Web Developer Certificate and studies in the Marketing Communication Certificate Program at San José State University Professional Development, as well as coursework in graphics and management through UC Santa Cruz Extension. He also participated in a networking workshop at Stanford University. His additional education includes computer graphics at Indiana Vocational Technical Institute, advertising design at Ball State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Indiana.
Today, Alan continues to expand his design capabilities across brand identity, digital and social media, motion graphics, content creation, video editing, web design, and AI-assisted creative development. His goal is to combine decades of professional design experience with current tools, technologies, and creative practices to deliver effective, modern visual communication.
